Biography
Anthony (Tony) Detlof married Myrtle Tobias Shaul, a devorcee, in 1934, m uch to the disapproval of his very Roman Catholic family. His sister, Sis ter Germaine Detlof of the Saint Mary Convent in Monroe, MI, never quite f orgave him for giving up the church in favor of his wife. She wrote h im on numerous occasions that she continued to pray that he would leave h is wife and rejoin the Church. He was a devoted husband to Myrtle and s aw her through experimental radiation treatment for cancer later in 193 4. This treatment made it so that Myrt and Tony would never have childr en of their own. Their marriage lasted until Tony's death in 1979. To ny was a devoted stepfather to Harry Shaul with a very close relationsh ip forming as Harry entered adulthood and was the best possibe grandfath er to both Michael Lee and Patrick Anthony Shaul.

Anthony Detlof was a tinkerer -- he liked to look at mechanical things, fi gure out how they worked, and then figure out how to make them work bette r. He had numerous patents at Wyandott Chemical, the company for whi ch he worked a number of years. In fact, as the process in the plant chan ged, the company kept shifting Tony around to keep him on board. Over t he years his abilities saved the company a great deal of money.

Anthony Detlof's grandfather was Anton Dettlaff (this is the correct spell ing of the family name) who was born in Podcernin, district of Neustadt, d epartment of Danzig. Anton's parents were Martin Dettlaff and Catherine B olda.(Medical):Instantaneous.
